Walter Quartermain

QUARTERMAIN, WALTER - It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Walter John Quartermain of Hoyt NB, December 30 2014. Born in Fredericton NB January 5 1946. Son of late Reid Quartermain and Blanche (Thorpe) Harris. Leaves behind a wife Ann (Johnson), daughter Lisa (Brent) Johnston of Kansas and son Christopher (Lorrie) Quartermain of Hoyt. One brother Arthur (Stella) Quartermain of Fredericton, two sisters Margaret Hogg of Nova Scotia and Elizabeth Rice Fredericton. Step-brother James Harris of Fredericton. Grandchildren Colton and Riley Quartermain, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers-in-law Charles Rice and Donald Hogg. Walter always had a great love of fishing and the great outdoors. Thoroughly enjoyed his family and friends and could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. With a career as a Forest Ranger for twenty-eight years running concurrently with the Volunteer Fire Service for forty plus years. We will always be grateful to our neighbor Paul Bennett who's quick thinking saved Walter from the burning building. We would like to thank all food, thoughts and prayers from friends of our community. Thank you to the Hoyt Fire Department, Fredericton Junction Fire Service as well as the Oromocto Fire Service for their quick action, care, service and kindness. A special thank you to Hoyt Fire Medic, Tracy Hanson who stayed with Walter on his journey to Saint John. Thank you to all the staff of Saint John Regional Hospital for their kindness and support to our family.
Services will be held at Saint Luke’s Church in Hoyt Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2014 at 11am at St. Luke’s Anglican Church with Bishop George Lemmon officiating. Interment will follow the service at St Luke’s Anglican Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, you may express your sympathy by making a donation to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice.
