Grace Mary (Gwynn) MacDonald, 83, of Sydney passed away Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at the Inverary Manor, Inverness.
Born in Aspy Bay, Grace was the daughter of the late Allen and Helen (MacAskill) Gwynn.
Grace moved to Sydney to complete her education at Business College and worked many years before retiring as secretary of Cumis Insurance, in Sydney. She was a member of Sydney River United Protestant Church. Until recent months, she enjoyed spending her days at the VON Senior Centre. Grace was blessed with a loving family. She received the best of care in her own home by Wayne and Trish. She was especially happy while having ‘her’ beloved puppy, Muffin, in her arms.
She is survived by daughters, Jacklyn (Tom) Anderson, Sydney, and Sandra (Maurice) Curtis, Aspy Bay; sons, Wayne (Trish) and Bruce (Penny), both of Sydney; Jackson stephchildren, Nancy (Bernie) Boudreau, Kentville, Susan, Glen and Stephen (Jodi), all of Sydney; sister Virgina Sutherland, Sydney; brothers, Lloyd (Marge), B.C., and John (Eleanor), Halifax; grandchildren, Charles, Wendy, Kelly, Amy, and Bryce, and six great-grandchildren.
Grace was predeceased by her first husband Charlie MacDonald, second husband Leonard Jackson, sister Cathy Forsythe, brothers, Donald, Robert and Wendell.
Visitation will take place from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 4, 2015, at Sydney Memorial Chapel. A celebration of life will be held Monday in Aspy Bay United Church at 2 p.m., with Rev. Margie Wood officiating. Interment in the church cemetery. Following the service, there will be a reception in the Culture Center, Cape North.
