Passed on: December 29th, 2014

BURNS
Michele “Shelly” Ann Burns (née Schuett), aged 58 years of Moose Jaw, SK, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 29th, 2014 with family by her side, and in the compassionate care of the staff of Providence Place, after a long decline from dementia. Shelly was born on March 15th, 1956 to Phil and Bert Schuett in Moose Jaw. She was the third of six children and attended St. Margaret School and Riverview Collegiate, graduating in 1974. That same year, she married Rob Burns and together they raised three children: Caleb, Josh and Sarah. Shelly was a stay at home mom and as such, was able to be available to volunteer at school and accompany class field trips. She was an adventurous cook, a gifted photographer, an accomplished seamstress and so much more. Her shy demeanor belied an avid curiosity in all things in nature, be it birds and wild flowers or the science of forensics. She had a subtle and understated sense of humour and loved to share a private joke, often communicated by the lift of an eyebrow or a roll of the eyes. Shelly especially enjoyed the times she spent at the cottage at Buffalo Pound Lake and hosted many happy occasions there with friends and family. She was predeceased by her grandparents; her father, Phil Schuett; and brother, Dennis Schuett. Shelly is survived by her mother, Bert and step-father, Bill Henderson; husband, Rob; children: Caleb (Amber), Josh (Tashia) and Sarah (Mike) Tighe; grandchildren: Katherine, Emily, Ryan and Owen; brother, Mike Schuett; sisters: Marion (Dale) Butler, Patty (Brian) Chadwick and Pam (Terry) Grendus; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, in-laws and out-laws. A Celebration to honour Michele will be held on Monday, January 5th, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. in Moose Jaw Funeral Home with Cheryl Thul officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations in Michele’s name may be made to the Providence Place Foundation Inc, 100 – 2nd Ave NE, Moose Jaw, SK S6H 1B8 or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are entrusted to Moose Jaw Funeral Home, 268 Mulberry Lane. James Murdock, Funeral Director 306-693-4550 www.moosejawfuneralhome.com
