BURGESS, DORA M. - Dora M. Burgess peacefully passed away, with her family by her side, at Thomas Hall on Saturday, January 10, 2015. She was born in Sackville, NB on October 23, 1921 to the late Nelson and Hepsey (Wheaton) Milner and was the wife of the late J. Ronald Burgess. Dora is survived by her children, Karin Ratcliff (Keith) of Glen Williams, ON, Brian Burgess (Bernadette) of Dartmouth, NS as well as Mary Ellen Wilson (Russell) and John Burgess (Judy) all of Fredericton, NB; her grandchildren, Karoline, Stephanie and Jonathan (Jessica) Ratcliff, Jill (Michael Snow), Pam (Karl Achenbach), Kate Burgess, Janice (Anthony Bellis), Lisa (Kevin Larlee), Amy (David Palmer), Jerad (Candice) Jonsson as well as Ronnie (Christina Moore), Stephen and Abby Burgess. She is also survived by her sisters, Connie Milner of Sackville, NB and Mary Jo Smith (Conrad) of Trenton, ON; brother, Alan Milner (Phyliss) of Miramichi, NB; sisters-in-law, Kay Burgess of Fredericton, NB and Doris Burgess of Ottawa, ON; nephew, Scott Burgess (Leona) of Fredericton, NB; fifteen great grandchildren as well as several nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband, Ronald; parents, Nelson and Hepsey and brothers, David “Bud” Milner and Robert Milner. Dora was recognized for her sixty years of valuable service to the IODE Governor Carleton Chapter and was a member of St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. She was also a great supporter of her family and community and was an avid bridge player for many years.
There will be no visitation by request. A memorial service will take place in the J. A. McAdam Memorial Chapel on Wednesday, January 14, 2015 at 3:00 pm with Rev. Doug Blaikie officiating. Interment will take place at a later date in the Fredericton Rural Cemetery Extension. For those who wish, memorial tributes in Dora’s honor may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
