Vera Shaw

Vera passed away peacefully, following a brief illness, on January 9, 2015, with family by her side. Vera was born in Yellow Grass, SK on June 29, 1932. When she was a young girl her family moved to Moose Jaw where she attended school and Business College. After Business College she went to work as a secretary, and it was there that she met Hugh Shaw. Hugh and Vera were married on June 10, 1961, and raised their family in Moose Jaw, where Vera resided until her passing. Over the years Vera enjoyed bowling, aquafit, walking for fitness, gardening, cooking, crossword puzzles, and in recent years enjoyed going for coffee and hanging out with friends at A & W. Vera was also an active volunteer in the community. Vera is predeceased by her husband Hugh (1992), her sister Elsie Huber, and by her brothers Kurt and Walter Stack. She leaves to mourn her sons Dave (Joanne), Ken, and Gary; her sisters Irma Carss and Anne (Maurice) Lowe; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Special thanks to the doctors and nurses at Moose Jaw Union Hospital. In keeping with Vera’s wishes, there will be no funeral. A family Graveside Service will be held on Thursday, January 15, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at Rosedale Cemetery. As an expression of sympathy, a donation in Vera’s name to the Canadian Diabetes Association, 917 Albert St, Regina, SK, S4R 2P6, would be appreciated.
