Edward Martin

MARTIN, EDWARD HARLAN - Edward Harlan Martin of Petitcodiac, passed away peacefully at the Moncton City Hospital on January 16, 2015 at the age of 73. Born in Elgin, Edward was a son of the late Cyril and Edith (nee Collier) Martin, and the loving husband of Carole (nee MacPhee) Martin. Edward was retired from CNR. He worked for 34 years, starting on a gang at age 18 and worked to become a leading signal communications technician in Canada. He was an adherent of St. James United Church, and a member of the 1st Elgin Baptist Church. He enjoyed snowmobiling and was an avid hockey and NASCAR fan, but his greatest joy was time spent with his family, especially his children and grandchildren. Edward took delight in giving the grandkids treats, and always made sure he had some with him. He spent many hours coaching minor hockey; he followed his grandchildren’s hockey games wherever they were playing. Besides his loving wife Carole, Edward is survived by his daughter Paula Martin; his sons: Greg (Bronwen) Martin and Jason (Angela) Martin; six grandchildren: Riley, Chloe, Quincy, Jesse, Eden and Lauren; his sisters: Phyllis Linkletter of Elgin and Shirley (Ralph) Hall of Norton; his brothers: Laurence Martin and Dean (Carol) Martin of Elgin, and Kenneth (Myrna) Martin of Petitcodiac; as well as by many extended family members and friends. Besides his parents Edward was predeceased by his brother Ronald Martin, sister-in-law Shirley Martin and brother-in-law Parker Linkletter.
