He served as Catholic priest in the Hamilton Diocese since he was ordained June 5, 1965.
Born in Sydney, C.B., to the late Lawrence Benedict Smith and the late Mary Elizabeth (MacMullin) Smith.
Excellent brother to Ben Smith (Olga) of Mississauga and to three deceased brothers (Donald, Martin, John Neil in Cape Breton Island), and to sister Mary Wrobleski of Sydney, C.B., and a wonderful uncle (and great-uncle) to many nephews and nieces.
Visitation in Most Blessed Sacrament Church, 920 Fennell Ave., East, Hamilton, on Wednesday, Jan. 21, from 2-9 p.m., with Vesper prayers at 8 p.m. Funeral Mass on Thursday, Jan. 22, 2015, at Most Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 11 a.m. Reception for all present immediately after the Mass. Burial in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Burlington.
