William Retzleff

Passed on: January 12th, 2015

RETZLEFF
William Thomas "Bill" Retzleff of Kyle, Saskatchewan, passed away at the Kyle District Health Centre on January 12, 2015 at the age of 89.
To cherish his memory he leaves his beloved wife of 67 years, Isabel (née Turner), daughter Cheryl Hirst (Jerry Jenson), son Daryl (Trudy); grandchildren Hart Hirst (Courtney), Marie-Claire Krell (Trent), Billy Retzleff (Liz), Robbie Retzleff (Jess); great-grandchildren Kaitlyn Krell, Conner Krell and Lydia Retzleff and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Alexander and Lydia Retzleff, brothers George, Victor (Lila), Edgar, Alex (Vera) and Harry (Irene); sisters Anna May (Ernest Handley), Lydia (Archie Covey) and Caroline (Ralph Larson); parents-in-law Bert and Ruby Turner; son-in-law Doug Hirst; brothers-in-law Bob (Sally) Turner and Gordon (Irene) Turner; and niece Sandra Turner.
Bill was born on September 9, 1925 on the farm near Beechy, Sk. Because his mother passed away when he was 3 years old, Bill’s oldest sister, 16 year old Anna May took on the role of mother for the family. He took his schooling at Neasden School to grade 9 and at age 14 began working away from home. He had many and varied jobs during his lifetime, but his love of farming and driving “his bus kids” topped the list. He will always be remembered for his quick wit, twinkle in his eye, kind heart, beautiful smile, carpentry skills, plaid shirts (with two pockets!) and ball caps! Dad enjoyed his stay at the Kyle Health Centre where he received excellent care from all the loving staff.
“Success is not measured by where you are in life-but by the obstacles you have overcome.”
