Mildred 'Millie' Dean

Born In: Whitney Pier
Born: December 31st, 1918

Passed in: Sydney
Passed on: January 19th, 2015

It is with much sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred Olive Dean on Monday, January 19, 2015.
Born on Dec. 31, 1918, Millie was the daughter of the late Walter and Hilda (Clarke) Oake.
Millie was employed as office manger with Devco for several years. She was a member of First United Church, Sydney.
Born in Whitney Pier, she considered Cape Breton to be God’s country. An avid bridge player, she played to the very end using modern internet technology.
Surviving are her sons, Jack (Eleanor), Calgary, David (Karen), Toronto and Alfred (Janet), Sydney; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 75 years, Frederick; sister, Margaret Pretty and brothers, Raymond, Charles, Ernest and Walter.
A woman of faith, she loved her family as much as her Lord. She “lived” until she died. What more can we ask.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel on Friday 7-9 p.m. A funeral service will be held at the United Heritage Church, Sydney on Saturday 11 a.m. Interment in Hardwood Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorials to Palliative Care or Loaves and Fishes.
The family would like to thank Dr. Paul Murphy and the staff at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital for their outstanding care.
Words of comfort may be sent to the family at www.sydneymemorialchapel.ca or email sydneymemorialchapel@ns.sympatico.ca.
