Salgado, Dr. David – It’s with heavy hearts that the family of David Salgado, husband of Sally (Haley) Salgado of Hampton NB, announce his passing, which occurred peacefully on Friday January 16th, 2015 at the Toronto General Hospital. Born in Montreal on March 19th, 1959, he was the son of Susan (Snow) Salgado and the late Dr. Isidro Salgado. He is survived by his wife Sally (Haley) Salgado, son Jeremy (Jen Bursey) Salgado and his daughter Erika Salgado; grandchildren Max and Julia Salgado. Dave is also survived by his siblings, Dr. Lydia Salgado Kroetch (Vince) and 2 children (Shawn and Paul) and Dr. Michael Salgado (Colleen Furlong) and their 4 children (David, Jon, Anna & Emma). In laws Barbara and Ken Haley and many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
Dave grew up in Campbellton, NB. He graduated from Restigouche Senior High School in 1977 and earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Dalhousie University in 1981. He graduated cum laude from Dalhousie Medical School in 1984. Next to his family Dave’s passions in life was his family practice. He was a member of the College of Physician’s and Surgeons, Canadian Medical Association, NB Medical Society, Saint John Medical Society and previous Physician for Ambulance and Fire Department in Hampton, NB.
Dr. Dave was awarded the Rotary International Paul Harris Fellowship Award. Dave was an avid reader and talker to say the least! Some of his interests and passions were working with his hands (yard work, house renovations), cooking, reading (science fiction/fantasy), Tai-Chi, hand drumming, kayaking, skiing (downhill and cross country), loved high-technology, collecting coins, healing arts (medicine included), hypnosis, good conversation, making wild fruit wines, homemade breads and cheeses and sipping some good Kentucky bourbon.
A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, January 25th, 2015 at the Hampton Senior Resource Centre from 1pm – 4pm.
