Sheldon Dewayne Schofield (April 4, 1947 - January 18, 2015) of Bashaw, Alberta, formerly of Kentville, Nova Scotia, passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the University of Alberta Hospital at the age of 67 years. Sheldon was born in Kentville, Nova Scotia to the late Lester “Scamp” and Edith (Moore) Schofield. He moved to Alberta in 1978 and stayed there until his passing. He was employed as a truck driver for the past 50 years. Sheldon loved to putter around his home and loved to go fishing and camping. He was known for having a good camp fire with his family and friends. Sheldon is survived by his wife of 40 years, Dale Martin (who never left his side during his four month hospital stay); daughter Crystal (John) Martens of Calgary; five sons Dewayne (Lucy) of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Dean of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Dana of Kentville, Nova Scotia, Scott (Tracy) of Kentville, Nova Scotia, and Jamie (Wanda) of Kentville, Nova Scotia; brother Art (Sheila) Schofield of Billtown, Nova Scotia; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and one great-grandchild. He was predeceased by three sisters Hazel, Lillian, and Yvonne “Bonnie”; and one brother Roy. A Funeral Service was held at 1:00 pm, Friday, January 23, 2015 from the Burgar Memorial Chapel with Rev. Brian Hunter officiating. A memorial service and inurnment will take place at a later date in Kentville, Nova Scotia. If family and friends so desire, memorial contributions are gratefully accepted to the Stollery Children's Hospital, the University of Alberta Hospital, or to the Alberta Diabetes Foundation.
