HATT, GEOFFREY LEIGH
Unexpectedly at his residence on January 30, 2015, Geoffrey Leigh Hatt, husband of Eileen Vivian (nee Frost) Hatt of L'Etang, NB.
Born at Blacks Harbour, NB on October 6, 1951, he was a son of Florence "Olive" (nee Northrup) Hatt and the late Cylde N. Hat.
A loving husband, father, grandfather, son and brother, in addition to his loving wife, Eileen, Geoff is survived by two sons: Tim (Amy) Hatt of Canal, NB and Jonathan (Kerri) Hatt of Deer Island; one daughter: Kelly (Devin) Cooke of Back Bay, NB; five grandchildren: Rachel, Austin, Kailynn, Emmerson and Sullivan; his mother: Olive Hatt of L'Etang, NB; two brothers: Barry (Louise) Hatt of Fredericton, NB and Braden Hatt of St. George, NB and by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides his father Clyde, he was predeceased by one brother Clynel.
Geoff was a hardworking, devoted, community minded individual. He was a semi-retired lineman, working for various contract companies such as K-Line Construction and recently with Tri-Wire Line Construction. Geoff worked for 33 years with NB Power and had previously been employed as a truck driver for Connors Bros. Geoff served with the Queen's Owns Rifles of Canada for five years and was recently named Secretary/Treasurer. He was a longtime member of the Fundy Bay Fire Department where he currently held the position of Deputy Chief and was well respected by his fire department members. Geoff was a devoted family man, who enjoyed spending time with his family and taking his trips with his grandchildren. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time at his camp in McDougall. He was also a sports fan and enjoyed watching NASCAR as well as cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Blue Jays. Geoff will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Geoff was a longtime member of the L'Etete Church of Christ. He will always be remembered as a true gentleman, Christian and an inspiration to many.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Resting at the Sea View Full Gospel Church, Back Bay, NB with visiting on Monday from 7 to 9 pm and on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service will take place from the church on Wednesday at 2 pm with Rev. Giles Mullen officiating. The interment will take place at the St. George Rural Cemetery in the spring.
In Geoff's memory, donations to the Bayview Christian Camp, the Agape Medical Mission to Russia or to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of Canada would be appreciated by the family.
