Verna held various jobs before starting her 37 year career with the Swift Current Union Hospital in 1972 and in 2009 she retired from the Cypress Regional Hospital. Verna was an avid bowler and was involved in a mixed bowling league in her younger years. This is how she met and fell in love with her husband George. In her spare time she loved to cross stitch and spent many hours creating beautiful cross stich patterns as well as play cards, and work on Sudoku and word search puzzles. Verna also loved to travel and many trips were made out to British Columbia, Alberta, the U.S.A and Europe to visit family and friends. Verna was a very caring soul and helping people is what made her truly happy. She was always the first one to volunteer her time whether it be doing books for the Swift Current Figure Skating Club, sewing carnival and skating costumes, planning the hospital Christmas parties or just helping out a friend or family member when help was truly needed. She always loved the time that her and her special friend Betsey shared with each other and often talked about the adventures they had been on. Her three grandchildren meant the world to her. She was so proud of them and all their accomplishments and would brag about them to anyone who would listen. She never missed a school Christmas concert or sporting event. She was one of their biggest supporters. Donations in memory of Verna may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society or to a charity of your choosing. Warren's Funeral Home were entrusted with the arrangements.
