Passed on: February 1st, 2015

VALORIE ELLA TRESLAN
We regret to report that our mother, Val, passed away in Regina on Sunday, February 1, 2015 after a brief illness in her 73rd year. Val is survived by her daughter Sharon Evaniew (Mike); and her grandson James of Regina; and her son Erroll Treslan (Elaine); and grandchildren Mathea, Hogan and Thor of Owen Sound. Val also leaves two surviving brothers, Brian (Darlene) and Jerry (Cheryl); and nieces, Debbie, Cindy, Trudy and Taryn and nephews, Dean, Grant and Todd. She will be missed greatly by her best friend of 30 years Gordon Gosselin. Val was born in Rosetown, Saskatchewan and had a wonderful childhood growing up in Kyle with her brothers and parents, the late Thorolf and Ella (nee Larson) Jenson. She obtained her teaching degree at the University of Saskatchewan and taught elementary school in Nipawin, Prince Albert, Kerrobert and Calgary. Val suffered from schizophrenia most of her adult life but her disability did not prevent her from raising Sharon through her teen years as a single mother. Val had stoic grace in response to her health challenges and always had a smile, laugh and twinkle in her eye. She accumulated many close friends in Saskatoon, Nipawin, St. John's (NL) and Regina. She enjoyed reading, painting and found great comfort with employment/companionship provided by the Regina Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association. Val worshipped at Regina's First Baptist Church and most recently Heritage Alliance Church. A Memorial Service was held at Speers Funeral Chapel, 2136 College Avenue on Friday, February 6, 2014 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Val's memory can be made to the Regina Branch of the Canadian Mental Health Association, 2702-12th Avenue, Regina, SK S4T 1J2.
