Kenneth 'Kenny' Ferguson

Kenny Ferguson, 91, passed away Monday, February 2, 2015, at the Camp Hill Veterans’ Memorial Hospital, Halifax. He was a former resident of Argyle Street and Williston House, Sydney and summer resident of his beloved bungalow at St. George’s Channel.
Kenny was the son of the late Roderick D. and Ethel (MacKillop) Ferguson, Cleveland, Richmond County.
After 40+ years of service, he retired from the CN. Kenny was a veteran of the Second World War, became a life member in 2005 and received his 60-year pin from the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 12, Sydney. In 2002, he received his 50-year jewel from MacKay Masonic Lodge #113. Kenny is also a life member of CN Brotherhood of M.W.E. Lodge 386. He was a member of the CN Pension Association Council #9; Prince of Wales Chapter #10; Cape Breton Preceptory #43; Cape Breton Cross Conclave #39; Cape Breton Shrine Club, Shriners Philae Temple, Halifax. Kenny was past member of the Sydney Credit Union Board of Directors. He is an honourary life elder and member of St. Andrew’s United Church, Sydney.
Kenny was predeceased by his wife, Janet 'Jane' MacIntosh; eldest son, Jim; brother, Norman; sister and brother-in-law, Myrtle (Calvin) MacIntyre; brother-in-law, Murdock Ferguson; in-laws, Ross (Margaret), Bert, Eddie, Archie, Jerry, Billy and Rev. Jim MacIntosh.
He is survived by sons, Stewart (Randi), Lethbridge, Alta. and Ken (Lori), Ottawa, Ont.; daughter, Debbie (Pat) MacIsaac, Halifax; daughter-in-law, Barb, Calgary, Alta; sister, Muriel, Cleveland, N. S.; sisters-in-law, Lorraine, Alice, Shirley, Mary A., Flora (Stewart) and Mary I. (Anthony); numerous nephews and nieces. A proud and loving Papa to his grandchildren, Kenzie and Ellian, Lethbridge.; Emma, William and Matthew, Ottawa; Janet and Patrick, Halifax.
Visitation will take place at Sydney Memorial Chapel, 49 Welton St., Sydney, on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held in the chapel on Monday, February 16 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception on the lower level of funeral home. Interment will take place at a later date in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens.
