Passed on: February 6th, 2015

It is with heavy hearts that we, the family of Ruby W. Barron announce her peaceful passing surrounded by her loving family at the Highland Manor nursing home, Feb. 6, 2015.
Born March 24, 1927, in Ingonish, C.B., mom was the daughter of the late Catherine & Harry Dupe, North Ingonish.
Mom worked for many years in the laundry department of the Keltic Lodge Resort and enjoyed being a nanny for the Ingonish Detachment of the RCMP.
In mom’s earlier years she enjoyed playing darts and bingo. She and dad spent much of their later years watching golf and the Blue Jays and listening to her idol, Johnny Reid. Above all, mom’s most prized possession was her family and strong faith in god.
Mom’s favourite times of the year were Christmas and summer when she couldn’t wait for all eight kids and their families to come home and be together.
Mom is survived by her children, Patsy (Adrian), Barry (Linda), David (Darlene), Bernadette (David), Teresina (Jim), George (Suzanne), Ruby Ann (Larry), Melinda (Jim), 21 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren, Mom is also survived by her brother Harry MacDougall.
Predeceased by her husband Sylvester Barron, two grandchildren, one great-grandchild and three brothers.
A special thank you to Dr. Buffet and all the staff of Buchanan Memorial Hospital for taking such good care of her during her many months there. Words could never express our gratitude to Brian and the entire staff of Highland Manor Nursing Home for their kind and compassionate care mom received during her short stay with them. She was truly treated like their own mother. For the food you provided, the bottomless cups of tea and all your hugs we will forever be grateful.
Visitation will take place at Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Ingonish Beach, Monday, Feb. 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A celebration of mom’s life will take place Tuesday, Feb. 10 at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Parish with Fr. Jake Andrea officiating. All are welcome to attend a luncheon after at the rink building next to the Ingonish parish hall.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Fillmore & Whitman Funeral Home, Ingonish Beach, B0C-1L0.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in mom’s memory to the Canadian Lung Association.
