CHAPPELL, WALTER RHODES JR
July 29th, 1940 - February 15th, 2015
It is with great sadness that the family of Walter Rhodes Chappell, Jr. announces his passing on Sunday, February 15th, 2015 following a brief yet brave battle with cancer. He died peacefully at The Moncton Hospital while surrounded by his loving wife Margaret and family. Born in Port Elgin, New Brunswick on July 29th, 1940 he was the son of the late Walter Sr. and Margaret (Hastings) Chappell.
He is survived by his loving wife of over 54 years, Margaret (Robinson) Chappell; daughters, Cheryl Chappell, Cindy (Chappell) Dow; sons, Paul (Heather) Chappell and Bob Chappell; his grandchildren, Danny Chappell, Jessica (Chappell) Richard, Cody Chappell, Marc Gaudet, Brandon Gaudet, and Chrissy (Chappell) Gilbert. His great-grandchildren, Riley Chappell and Corralynn Gilbert. His future daughter-in-law, Natalie Dupuis and her daughter, Madelene; as well as sisters, Mae Steeves and Eileen (Ted) Lock and several nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by youngest son, Darren Walter Chappell; grandson Stephun Joseph Gaudet; brother, Herman Chappell; brother-in-law, Harold Steeves and niece, Diane Steeves.
Walter was the owner and operator of Walter Chappell Well Drilling for over 59 years. He was the kindest man, loving husband and father who would lend a helping hand to whoever needed it. Best friend to all. Walter loved his family and friends whole heartedly and enjoyed life to its fullest. He enjoyed spending his winters in Florida with friends and his loving wife Margaret. She was his soulmate for the past 55 years. He loved going to all the horse events or hunting in Newfoundland with his sons. But most of all he loved his life, family and friends. He was a long time member of Hillside Baptist Church.
The family would like to thank the Staff of 6600 Unit at The Moncton Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Walter during his illness.
The family will be receiving relatives and friends at Fergusons Funeral Home, 1657 Mountain Road, Moncton (858-1995) on Thursday, February 19th, 2015 from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A Service to Celebrate Walter’s life will be held at Fergusons Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, February 20th, 2015 at 11:00 am, with Rev. Jerry Reddy officiating. Reception in the Funeral Home Reception Centre following the service. Interment to take place at Fair Haven Memorial Gardens following the service.
