LIRETTE, OVILA
Ovila Lirette, 87, of Villa du Repos, formerly of Woodleigh Street Moncton and Greenwood Drive, Shediac, passed away on Tuesday February 17th, 2015. Born in Dupuis Corner on September 7th, 1927, he was the son of the late Gaspard and Rose Lirette.
A devoted family man, he enjoyed time with his children and grandchildren. Before his retirement, Ovila was a truck driver and machinist for the former Paturel Seafood, past president of the Shediac Seniors Bowling League and a member of the Pointe-du-Chêne Knights of Columbus. Woodworking was his hobby and most of his creations were gifted to family members. He also crafted and donated the wooden crucifix in the Our Lady of Mercy EC church.
He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife of 64 years, Auréa (Leger) Lirette; two sons: Guy (Diane) of Scoudouc, Ronald (Ginette) of Notre-Dame; three daughters: Mary-Rose Stockall (Dave) of Dartmouth NS, Susan Murray ( Raymond) of Riverview, Annette Flanagan (Lloyd) of Moncton; a sister-in-law: Lorette Lirette; eight grandchildren: Melanie, Nicholas, Jennifer, Lisa, David, Diane, Daniel, Christopher; 12 great-grandchildren: Brianne, Jayden, Hayden, Layla, Mia, Lorenzo, Annabella, Logan, Nicholas, Alex, Carter, Benjamin and three brothers: Aquila (Late Jeanne) of Moncton, Lévis of Moncton, and Adrice (Claudette) of Shediac
He is predeceased by a sister Thérèse and a brother Eddy.
The family will receive condolences at Frenette Funeral and Cremation Centre, 396 Main Street Shediac (532-3297) on Friday, February 20, 2015 from 2 to 4pm and 7 to 9pm only. The funeral mass will be held at Our Lady Of Mercy Roman Catholic church, 11 St. Andrew Street, Pointe-du-Chêne on Saturday, February 21 at 11:00am. Interment will be in the St. Henri cemetery in Grand Barachois.
In memory of Ovila, a donation to the Alzheimer Society of New Brunswick would be greatly appreciated.
