We, the family, regret to announce the passing of Mary 'Mookie' McMullin, 82, of New Waterford at the Northside Community Guest Home on Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015.
Born in New Waterford, she was a daughter of the late Francis and Margaret (MacKenzie) Burns.
Mookie was a member of Mount Carmel Church, currently the Parish Church of St. Leonard. She enjoyed her summers at the Mira water park, especially sitting around the fire listening to music. In her younger years, she was an avid bowler and dart player.
Mookie is survived by her three sons, Billy (Brenda), Brian (Pauline), both of New Waterford and Dannie, Sydney; five grandchildren, Shannon (Bryan) Durdle, Eastern Passage, N.S., Billy (Lori) McMullin, Barrie, Ont., Lindsay McMullin, Calgary, Alta., Kari-Ann and Aaron McMullin, New Waterford; one great-grandson, Brady; sister, Pat (Richard) Jennex, New Waterford; brothers, Frank (Edna) Burns, Sackville, N.B. and Martin Burns, Toronto, Ont.; numerous nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Gloria McMullin; ex-husband, Albert McMullin.
Besides her parents, Mookie was predeceased by her son, Albert 'Boo' McMullin; brothers, Sandy, Billy and Jimmy Burns; sisters, Theresa Cousins and Annie Dunn.
Cremation has taken place. A gathering of family and friends will be held on Monday, March 1, 2015 from 1-2 p.m. with a funeral service to follow at 2 p.m. all in V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home Chapel, 380 Smith St., New Waterford, with Deacon Leo Penny officiating. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery at a later date.
