Veronica MacKinnon

Born: January 5th, 1914

Passed in: Glace Bay
Passed on: February 28th, 2015

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and grandmother Veronica MacKinnon on February 28 at the Seaview Manor in Glace Bay. Nana left us at the age of 101 surrounded by those that loved her.
Born on January 5, 1914, Veronica was the daughter of Dan V. Ryan and Louisa Jessome Ryan. She spent almost all of her life in Donkin, Nova Scotia.
Veronica loved her home on MacLean Street which she filled with many pets over the years. She lived a full life and was fortunate to have many wonderful friends. She was well known for her kind and joyful nature. She loved to play darts and continued to do so well into her nineties, rarely missing a Friday night with her friends at the Donkin Legion.
Veronica leaves behind numerous people who love her dearly and miss her greatly. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Gerald (Dugan) and Ann MacKinnon and daughter Louise David, all of Donkin; as well as her grandchildren Carla Penson (John), Allan MacKinnon (Dawn Currie), Raymond David, John David (Marie), Michelle Sanvido (Gerry), Robert David (Trish), Stephen David (Candace), and Nicole David (Aaron Boutilier). She also will be fondly remembered by her great-grandchildren Brendan, Breanna, Madison, Mitchell, Sasha, Tyler, Jonathan, Lyndsey, Trevor, Tara, Tonya, Taylor, Michael, Christian, Alex, Chantel, and Mark as well as her great-great grandchildren Harper, Sebastian, Emma Rae, and Vincenzo.
Having lived for more than a century, Veronica was predeceased by many family members and friends, most notably her infant son Wilmont; husband John D. MacKinnon; and long-time companion Jerome Bates.
Cremation has taken place under the care and direction of Patten Funeral Home 71 Union St., Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at 11a.m., in Patten Funeral Home Chapel.
We would like to thank the wonderful staff of the Seaview Manor for the kindness and care that they provided our Mom and Nana during her time with them. Your thoughtfulness is greatly appreciated and will not be soon forgotten.
