Gerald Moses Gallant, 86, Little Lorraine, Cape Breton passed away on March 5, 2015 at Harbourstone Enhanced Care facility, Sydney.
Born in Little Lorraine, he was a son of the late James and Ella (Riley) Gallant. Gerald was an inshore fisherman all his life. Also in winter months he took great pride in building many Cape Island wooden boats. Off season he worked with T.C. Gorman Company building the locks during the construction of the Canso Causeway. He was also employed with Parks Canada in Baddeck where he was involved in the building of the hydrofoil replica.
He is survived by brother, James (Christine), Dartmouth; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by sisters, Anna Campbell, Monica Lahey, Sr. Sarah Gallant, CSM, Margaret Houle and Mary Connolly.
Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held 2-4 & 7-9 Monday. Funeral mass will take place 11 a.m. Tuesday. Both at Immaculate Conception Church, Main a Dieu with Fr. Raj officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Immaculate Church Cemetery Fund would be appreciated by the family.
