Lillian Blanche Hussey passed away peacefully on March 6, 2015, at the MacGillivray Guest Home, Sydney.
Born in Huntington, Cape Breton, she was the youngest daughter of the late Clifford and Maria Huntington.
Leaving to mourn fond and loving memories are her son, Gary (Colleen) Marion Bridge; daughters, Virgina (Bob) Brake, Cornerbrook, N.L., Maureen (Nick) Kavadias, New Glasgow, N.S.; eight grandchildren, Heather (Brad), Sheri (Martin), Connie (Akhane), Laura Lee (Walter), Shane (Dale), Lisa (James), Jill (Jonathan) and Jolene (Fiancé Brian); 16 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Audrey MacDonald, Elva Eisenhaur; son-in-law Angus MacKinnon; nieces and nephews and their families.
Lillian was predeceased by her husband Harvey, daughter Diane MacKinnon, brother Fred, sisters, Eleanor, Maude, Frances and Bertha, brothers-in-law, Cecil Hussey and Hedley Hopkins, and a sister-in-law Barbara Huntington.
Lillian was an active member of Bethel United Church, the church choir and the UCW. She was involved in many community activities, Women’s Institute, Mira Seniors and Pensioners, taught 4H program, and volunteered at the Cove Guest Home and Spring Garden Villa, to name a few. Mother loved gardening, sewing, reading and was very into recycling. She enjoyed visits from family and especially grandchildren. She also enjoyed a good game of tarabish and Scrabble whenever possible.
Visitation will take place Wednesday, March 11, 2015, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Sydney Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held Thursday, 2 p.m. in Bethel United Church, Marion Bridge, with Rev. Nancy Whitney-Latham officiating. Interment in Huntington Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials may be made to charity of ones choice.
Thank you to the staff of the MacGillivray Guest Home for making Moms stay enjoyable and comfortable, and to Kollin and the staff at Sydney Memorial Chapel for their services.
