McNEILL, SHIRLEY ELIZABETH
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on March 8, 2015, Mrs. Shirley Elizabeth (nee Rogerson) McNeill of Old Ridge, NB formerly of Chocolate Cove, NB, wife of the late Mr. G. Stanley McNeill. Born at Steeves Settlement, NB on May 10, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Atwood and Madelyn (nee Steeves) Rogerson.
A loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Shirley is survived by her two sons: Scott (Linda) McNeill of St. Stephen, NB and Paul (Krista) McNeill of Lambertville NB; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband Stan, she was predeceased by her daughter: Deborah; one brother: Earle; and by sisters: Louise, Annabelle and Elizabeth.
Prior to retirement, Shirley worked in the local fishing industry as both a sardine packer and a salmon processor. She was truly the heart and soul of her hometown of Chocolate Cove and was proud to be an Islander and always enjoyed watching the sunrise over Campobello. Shirley was a member of the Red Hat Society and enjoyed to be in the company of friends and family.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Resting at the Fairhaven Baptist Church on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will take place at the Fairhaven Community Cemetery, Calder's Head on Thursday at 2 pm with Rev. Maurice Hatfield officiating.
In Shirley's memory, donations to a charity of donor's choice would be appreciated by the family.
