It is with deep sadness that we must announce the peaceful passing of Alma Doreen Lewis, age 81, of Lower Maccan. Doreen passed away at the Cumberland Regional Health Care Centre on Friday, March 6, 2015.
Born in Maccan, NS, she was a daughter of the late Elsworth and Anne Belle (Whitewood) Quinn.
She enjoyed Bingo. Doreen enjoyed tending her flower garden, spending time with her family, especially the big family dinners during the holidays.
She will be dearly missed by her husband, Clarence; her daughters, Anna Brown (Wallace) of Lower Maccan, NS, Tracy Smith (Gregory) of West Brook, N.S., Susan Arsenault (Paul) of Amherst, NS; sister, Phyllis Betts of Springhill NS, 4 grandchildren.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her daughters in infancy, Darlene & Marilyn; sisters, Gertrude Lewis, Mary O'Brien, Elsie Boss, Beulah "Boo" Lewis; brothers, James Quinn & Donald Quinn.
Arrangements are under the care and direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, NS. In keeping with Doreen's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service at this time. A graveside service will be held at the Lower River Hebert Cemetery in the spring.
Should friends desire, memorial contributions may be made to the Canadian Diabetic Association or the Heart & Stroke Foundation.
