Harold Thomas "Hal" Brenton

Brenton, Harold Thomas “Hal” – 67, Brentwood, passed away on Thursday, March 19, 2015 at home. Born in Truro, he was the son of the late Aubrey and Vivian (McKinnon) Brenton. Hal was a long serving member of Elm Lodge #115 A.F. & A.M., Upper Stewiacke. Over the years he held different positions in the lodge which included, District Deputy Grand Master of Colchester District, Master of the Lodge and held the position of secretary for 22 years in Elm Lodge. He was a member of the Royal Arch, Truro (Keith Chapter #4); past Thrice Illustrious Master, Line of Judah Council #19. Hal was a member of the Col. Ned Hendeson Air Cadets Squadron #569, Brookfield until he was 17. He enjoyed his summers down at the trailer in Klahanie where he looked forward to playing a “good” game of darts with his friend, Verne and a drink or two around the campfire! Hal worked as a mechanic all his life and his love for Chrysler products was well known. He traveled to Halifax for over 20 years where he worked at Halifax Chrysler Dodge until his retirement 12 years ago. Hal loved his family dearly and was very proud of their accomplishments. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Wendy (Nelson); daughters, Amanda (Chad) Pyke and their children, Gavin and Gemma, Hammonds Plains and Heather (Ben) Jones, Deseronto, ON; siblings, Lloyd (Lorania), Nanaimo, BC, David, Brentwood, Ardith (Ivan) Paynter, North Tryon, PEI and Anna, Prince Rupert, BC; Aunt, Kay Jones, Courtney, BC; Carol Chapman (Michael), Stewiacke; sisters-in-laws, Ruth Sheehy (Freeman), Five Houses, Joan (Mike) Miller, Stewiacke, Judy Nelson, South Branch, Nicola (Barry) MacLean, Shubenacadie and Iris Brown, Stewiacke. Elm Lodge #115 A.F. & A.M. will hold a tribute service on Monday, March 23 at 6:45 p.m. followed by visitation until 9 p.m. in Colchester Community Funeral Home, 512 Willow Street, Truro. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, March 24 at 2 p.m. in the funeral home chapel, Rev. Marjory Cornelius officiating. Donations may be made to a charity of choice.
