The death occurred peacefully, surrounded by her family, at Margaret Stewart Ellis Home, O’Leary, on Saturday, March 21, 2015, of Tryphosa "Phosie" Olive Carruthers of O’Leary, formerly Mt. Stewart, aged 89 years, wife of the late Allison G. Carruthers. Born on Sept. 22, 1925, in West Point, daughter of the late Ernest and Beatrice (Bulger) MacDonald. Loving mother to Sue (Rev. Vernon) Marsh, Knutsford; Wendy (Joe) Anderson, Dunstaffnage; Allyson-Anne (Cliff) Hayes, Sylvan Lake, Alta.; Sandy (Holly Noel), Mt. Albion; Norma (Kevin) Trainor, Cornwall, son-in-law Kenny Drake, Morell, and extended family Barry (Jeannine) LaLonde. Beloved grandmother to 22 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren. Phosie is also survived by brothers and sisters Lindy (Audrey) MacDonald, West Point; Gerry (Mel) Sampson, Sydney N.S; Trudy Gay, Ottawa, Ont.; Lorraine (Leroy) Glenn, Tatamagouche, N.S; Tanya (Mike) DesRoches, West Point; brother-in-law Raeburn (Phyllis) Carruthers, Brampton, Ont.; sisters-in-law Fairley (Alvin) Yeo, Knutsford; Audrey (Blair) Thompson, O’Leary, Kathleen "Kay" Hart, New Hampshire, Thelma MacDonald, O’Leary, and Aunt Olive Daley, West Point. Phosie was predeceased by her parents, husband Allison (2001), daughter Laverne Drake, son Gordon, sister Daisy Young, brothers Gordon and Owen. Resting at Ferguson Funeral Home and Chapel, O’Leary, with visiting hours on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, from 6 to 9 p.m. and until 10 a.m. Wednesday, then to St. Anthony’s Roman Catholic Church, Woodstock, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment in Corpus Christi Church Cemetery, Glenwood, in the spring.
In memory of Phosie, memorials to Corpus Christi Church Cemetery or the Canadian Diabetes Association (P.E.I.) would be appreciated.
