McCully, Doreen Jean “Buddy” - Age 83, of Falmouth, formerly of Hantsport, Hants Co., passed away peacefully on Friday, March 27, 2015 in the Windsor Elms Village, Falmouth. Born on February 14, 1932 in Moncton, NB, she was a daughter of the late Raymond and Hilda (Livingston) Dixon. Buddy was a graduate of Halifax Children’s Hospital in 1954. Although never making a career of nursing she used her skills to raise five children. She was a dedicated volunteer with the Canadian Red Cross, IODE and UNICEF. Buddy was a member of the Hantsport Baptist Church and she enjoyed travelling with Len and family in the trailer and to many parts of the world. She is survived by children, Cathy (Ian) Dunbar, Hantsport; children, Morgan (Kiley) and Christopher Dunbar; Michael (Janice Lapierre), Moncton, NB; John (Colleen), Oakfield; children, Joel, Shaun (Rosa) and Ashleah McCully; Lynn (Norman) Purdy, Rothesay, NB; children, Lauren and Ian Purdy; Nancy (Maxwell) Butt, Panama; children, Cassandra and Kurtis Butt; great-grandchildren, Maggie, Jersey, Emilia and Isaac; sister, Carole (Bill) McCaw, Moncton, NB; brother, Raymond (Pat) Dixon, Sackville, NB; nieces, nephews and extended family. Besides her parents, Buddy was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Douglas “Len” McCully; brothers, John and Walter Dixon. Arrangements were entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor (902-798-8317). There was no visitation by request. Funeral service took place at 1 p.m. Monday, March 30 in Hantsport Baptist Church, Rev. Debra Mosher officiated, assisted by Rev. Mark Hunter. Private family interment was held in Riverbank Cemetery, Hantsport, followed by a reception in the Church Fellowship Hall.
