Phyllis Burpee

BURPEE (nee YOUNG), PHYLLIS ELIZABETH
With hearts full of thankfulness for our long-living, hard working, kind, caring and loving Mother, Phyllis Burpee, wife of the late David G. Burpee, passed away at the age of 100 on April 4th, 2015 at Windsor Court. Phyllis was the daughter of the late Harold and Millie (Foreman) Young, born in Fredericton, NB on September 25, 1914.
Her determination and dedication to family, church and community have been an inspiration to us and her loss will be felt by many. Phyllis was a long-standing member of Gibson Memorial Church, Fredericton where she spent many years leading CGIT units and as a member of the UCW volunteering countless hours for the benefit of her church. Mrs. "B" was admired by many Fredericton residents who knew her through her years of working alongside her husband at the Lady Beaverbrook Rink.
She will be sadly missed by her children, Eleanore Burpee, Fredericton, NB, Barbara (David) Himmelman, Lunenburg, NS, David Ray (Dianne), Fall River, NS and her brother, Dr. Murray (Mary) Young, Fredericton, NB; grand children David (Nancy) McCabe, St. John's, NL, Kathy (Bruce) Stapleton, Ottawa, ON, Veronica (Rob) Dillon, St. John's, NL, Colin Burpee, Caledon, ON, and Mike (Sadie) Himmelman, Winnipeg, MB. Phyllis also leaves behind nine great grand children, two sisters-in-laws, several cousins as well as many very special nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sisters Rhoda Sandberg, Grace Bawn, Rhete Dorcas, Jean Burden, brothers Mullan and Guy Young, grand daughter Devon Marin and son-in- law David Rickard.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. An announcement will be published.
For those who wish, donations in her memory can be made to Gibson Memorial United Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
Personal condolences may be offered through www.yorkfh.com. Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to York Funeral Home, 302 Brookside Drive, Fredericton.
