BURKE, HUGHENA “WEINNIE”
Hughena “Weinnie” Burke, of Lutes Mountain passed away peacefully at home on April 8, 2015 at the age of 65.

Born in Sydney, NS, August 7, 1949, she was the daughter of the late Hugh and Fredricka (Keesen) Phillips.

Weinnie was a very loving and outgoing mother and friend to all who knew her… and didn’t know her. She was extremely proud of her children and grandchildren, Weinnie and her short but long stories will be greatly missed. She retired from The Moncton Hospital, where she had worked for over 26 years and could always find a friend wherever she went.

Weinnie is survived by her son, Albert (Linda) Burke, daughters; Tonya (Dave) McCormick, Carrie (Dave) Mullin, grandchildren; Samantha (Adam), Tyler, Keagan, Shaelene, Hope, Trent and Kasen.
She is also survived by her brothers; Hilton “Junior” (Trish), Wendell (Bip), Melvin, Johnny, Glen “Babby” all of Sydney, sisters; Linda (Greg) Murphy, Bernita “Honey” (Danny) MacNeil both of Hamilton, Patsy (Alan) Moss, Lydia Young, Mary Anita “Bunny” MacLean all of Sydney, sister-in-law Mary Phillips and her many nieces and nephews.

Aside from her parents, Weinnie was predeceased by her partner of 18 years Dave Robertson and also her first husband Greg Burke. She was also predeceased by her brothers Harry, Donnie “Brutchie”, Larry and her sister Brenda.

Resting at Fair Haven Funeral Home with visitation on Monday April 13, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held at Fair Haven Funeral Home on Tuesday at 1:00 pm. Interment will take place in Fair Haven Memorial Gardens. Donations in Weinnie’s memory may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
