Norma Mueller

MUELLER, Norma Joan
December 13, 1934 – April 7, 2015

Norma passed away peacefully at the Palliser Regional Care Centre on Tuesday, April 7th with her loving daughter by her side. She had been a resident there for the past 9 years. She is predeceased by her parents, her grand-daughter Charmaine in 2002, her husband John in 2011 and her daughter-in-law Joy in 2013. She is survived by her son Lindsay and his daughters: Melissa (Lyle) Jensen, Marissa (Derek) Wolfe, and Kristie Mueller; her daughter Michele (Dan) Nephin and grandchildren Danny and Niki (Chris) Nephin; great-grandchildren Dolan and Emmersyn Wolfe and Millicent Nephin-Smid. Norma was born on her parent’s homestead in the Maple Creek area and resided there until her father’s passing in 1946. The family then relocated to Medicine Hat where she would eventually meet, and later marry, John Mueller in 1955. Both John and Norma worked at Beaver Lumber at the time. John went on to manage several lumberyards in Southern Alberta (Clareshome, Duchess, Hanna) and finally returned to the Hat in 1969. In 1970, they stepped outside the box and bought Swift Current Building Supplies, which they owned and ran until their passing – a wonderful entrepreneurial success story! Norma had a great love for sports, especially major league baseball. She excelled at curling and golf. She had a lifelong love for horses, cats and dogs – many of which she enjoyed during her years living on the family acreage east of Swift Current. She will be remembered for her witty sense of humour, and missed by her family always. A family service to honour her life will be held on Mother’s Day in May. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Swift Current SPCA would be greatly appreciated.
