HINES, Elsie Constance - Age 95, Windsor, passed away peacefully Tuesday, April 14, 2015 in Dykeland Lodge, Windsor, surrounded by her loving family. Born November 19, 1919 in Lower Argyle, she was a daughter of the late Leslie and Elsie (Smith) Lennox. Elsie was proud to have served with the WRENS in Ottawa during the Second World War. She was a longstanding member of the Windsor Baptist Church where she sang in the choir and was a member of the Merry Marthas. She loved music and was a member of the Windsor Community Choir for many years. Her greatest love was her three boys and their families. Elsie is survived by her sons, Wayne (Dianne), Windsor Forks; Laurie (Corinne), Windsor; and Colin (Joyce Anne), Falmouth; grandchildren, David, Erin (Ian), Jason (Heather), Jonathan, Andrew, Katie, Adam; and three great grandchildren. Besides her parents, Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Gerald A. Hines; sister, Olive (Doug) Murphy; brother, LCol Leslie (Marjorie) Lennox. Arrangements have been entrusted to DeMont Family Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 419 Albert St., PO Box 981, Windsor, NS B0N 2T0 (902-798-8317), where the family received visitors from 7-9 pm Thursday, April 16. Funeral service was held 2 pm Friday, April 17, in DeMont Family Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Rob Heffernan officiated. A reception followed in the funeral home’s Elmcroft Reception Centre. Private family interment was held in Maplewood Cemetery, Windsor. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Dykeland Lodge for their loving care and compassion shown to Elsie during her nine years of residency. Donations in her memory may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, Canadian Cancer Society, Friends of Dykeland Lodge or Windsor Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
