LAMBERT, NORMA MILDRED
At the Charlotte County Hospital, St. Stephen, NB on April 17, 2015, Mrs. Norma Mildred (Bates) Lambert of St. George, NB, wife of the late Jonah E. Lambert. Born at Blacks Harbour, NB on March 5, 1930, she was a daughter of the late Leverett and Juanita (Eldridge) Bates.
A loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister, Norma is survived by her only daughter: Debra Cooke (Dana Bagley) of Beaver Harbour, NB; three grandchildren: Trevor (Kathy) Cooke of Pennfield, NB, Danah (Colin) Barrett of Beaver Harbour NB and Dionne (Jamie) Comeau of Sylvan Lake, AB; great-grandchildren: Colbie, Morgan, Kristie, Taylor and Dylan; one sister: Hazel (Donald) Justason of Pennfield, NB, special friend and caretaker: Heather Dutcher of Seeley's Cove, NB; one nephew: Steve; cousins: Faye, Allen and Cindy.
In addition to her parents and husband, Norma was predeceased by her longtime companion, Ray Genge.
Prior to retirement, Norma worked at the Fundy Hospital, Collingwood Rest Home and at Passamaquoddy Lodge, normally holding housekeeping positions. After retirement, she moved to DeSable PEI to live with Ray and helped him oversee the day to day operations of the the DeSable Motel, where she enjoyed meeting all the tourists. Norma and Ray also enjoyed travelling during the winter months. In her earlier years, Norma loved music and enjoyed dancing, which she often spoke of in her retirement years. She enjoyed family gatherings, being with her grandchildren or going out to lunch with her friends. In her quiet time, Norma loved to watch TV and never missed an episode of General Hospital. She will be sadly missed by her loving family and many friends.
Arrangements in the care of the St. George Funeral Home (755-3533) 26 Portage Street, St. George, NB. Resting at the funeral home was on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. The service was held at the funeral home chapel on Monday, April 20, 2015 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Reg Ward officiating. The interment will take place at the Pennfield Rural Cemetery at a later date.
In Norma's memory, donations to Charlotte County Cancer or to a charity of the donor's choice would be greatly appreciated by the family.
