E. Corinne Mercer (nee Rees), 95, passed peacefully away at Lakeside Homes on April 20, 2015. Born on Bell Island on November 6, 1919 of the late Arthur and Marria Rees. Corinne completed 2 years of Medical School at Memorial University College before moving to Gander in the early forties to work as an American Teletype Operator with the USAF. In Gander she met and married Gerald (Gerry) Mercer in 1947. Spent the remaining years in Gander raising her family and was an avid member of St. Martins ACW. Corinne is predeceased by her husband Gerry and brother Charles. Left to mourn is a large circle of family and friends including Sons Robin (Bernice Philpott) Gander, Arthur (Audrey Curtis) Twillingate, Lorne (Barb Snow) Appleton and Daughter Candy (William Holloway) of Gander. Grandchildren, Penney Mercer, Allison Mercer, Gerry Mercer (Julie), Michael Mercer (Amalia), Dara Curle (Bobby), Nicholas Mercer and William Ford. Great grandchildren Carmen, Jessica, Jasmin, Adali, Max and Carmella. Resting at Stacey's Funeral Home, Gander on Tuesday, April 21st from 2:00 P.M. - 4:00 P.M. and 7:00 P.M. - 9:00 P.M. and Wednesday, April 22nd from 2;00 P.M. - 4:00 P.m. and 7:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Funeral service will take place on Thursday, April 23rd at 2:00 P.M. from St. Martin's Anglican Cathedral. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery.
