We the family, regret to announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, Oretha Anne Hill of Point Edward on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney.
Born in Point Edward, she was the daughter of the late William and Olive Hill. She was a member of St. John’s Anglican Church, Point Edward.
Mrs. Hill was a loving and dear mother and grandmother to her children and their children.
Mom was known for her home made bread and knitting sweaters for her family.
Oretha is survived by her three daughters, Shirley (Wilburn) Hill, Point Edward, Alberta (John Carey), Ball’s Creek, Kimberley (Ritchie) Matthews, North Sydney; two sons, William (Betty) Frenchvale, Gerald, Point Edward.
She is also survived by one sister, Muriel Deveaux, New Waterford; two brothers, James Hill, Point Edward, Glenmore Neal, Sydney; 11 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren.
Besides his parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Douglas Hill; son, Randy; brothers, Harry, Jim, Calvin, Ed and Alex.
There will be no visitation by request.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m Friday, April 24, 2015 at the SW Chant & Son Funeral Home Chapel, 564 Alexandra St., Sydney with Rev. Sheldon Chant officiating.
Interment to take place in St John’s Cemetery, Point Edward at a later date.
Donations may be made to the Diabetes Association or charity of choice.
