Hans was born on February 7, 1929 to Hans and Ida Eggimann in Kanerkinden, Switzerland, the oldest of four children. He grew up in a Christian home and accepted Jesus as his Lord and Saviour at the young age of 6 after listening to the Christmas story, and he lived his life accordingly.
Hans finished his schooling and went on to attend Agricultural school in Liestal. He completed his mandatory military training at the age of 19. As a Corporal, he was in charge of 10 men. He also served as a prison guard for a time. When his military service was complete, Hans went to Sunneberg to work on a farm where he met the love of his life Annemarie. Together the two of them dreamt of going to Canada. Hans married Annemarie in 1955 and after saying goodbye to their respective families, he took his new bride and boarded the ship that would take them on their adventure. They landed in New York, where they nearly missed the train that would take them to Dawson Creek. Women with children were allowed to get off the ship first, which made them one of the last ones off, but they managed to get to the train just in time. Otto Wuthrich picked them up in Dawson Creek and took them to Fort St. John. Hans rented a farm from Dave Chuilli at Fish Creek. He was blessed with 3 girls, Heidi, Margrit, and Edith and a son Christian. Hans built up his dairy herd and purchased the land in Rose Prairie. Bill Voigt built a house and barn and the whole family started the task of picking rocks and roots which would keep them busy for many years. Another daughter, Susan was added to the family then. It was a good life and he enjoyed it very much. Through his hard work his dreams had come true, he grew his herd to 80 milking cows and 180 cattle in total.
Hans enjoyed his community and saw a need for a church in the community. He joined a committee to bring Village Missions to Rose Prairie. He was very involved in seeing that the church was built and that people would have a place to worship. Hans participated in church on Sundays, was always a part of a weekly bible  study and attended many conferences. Hans always had a heart for Missions and missionaries. He loved to learn and know what was going on in other parts of the world and prayed daily for them.
Although a man of few words (to put it mildly!) Hans was able to show God's love to those around him in practical ways. He never hesitated to help a neighbour in any way he could, through advice or helping with a difficult calving.
Hans loved to travel, he took trips back to Switzerland, a tour to Norway and a road trip across Canada. A 5th wheel was also put to good use, camping with grand kids and visiting many friends.
Hans lived by these words: "The foundation of life comes from God who gives strength in all things, right to the end"
Sadly missed and forever remembered by his wife, Annemarie, Daughters Margrit (Jim), Edith, Son Chris (Lori) and Daughter Susan (Kelvin) Sister Ruth (Werner) Brother Ernest(Helen) numerous Grandchildren, Greatgrandchildren, 1 Great Great Grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Hans was predeceased by his parents, Hans and Ida Eggimann, Daughter Heidi, Granddaughter Nicole, Grandson Curtis and Great Great Granddaughter Rebecca.
As a family we wish to express our sincere thanks to all who were involved in Dad's life. Special thanks to Dr. Thomson, the Nurses and staff at the FSJ Hospital, all the Nurses, Care Aids and Staff at both Heritage II and Peace Villa. Memorial services were held at Upper Pine Gospel Chapel February 28, 2015 with Pastor Roy Adrian officiating. Many thanks to all who provided for the luncheon after the service.
