MATCHETT, TRUDY LYNN
1951-2015
Trudy Lynn Matchett passed away on April 28, 2015, at the Miramichi Regional Hospital, surrounded by loving family, at the age of 63.
Born in Newcastle N.B. she was the daughter of the late Carl and Muriel (White) Matchett.
Trudy graduated from Harkins High School in 1969 and then went to work in the family business for a year before embarking on a great adventure with the Canadian Air Force. Trudy worked as a supply tech based mostly in Victoria and Ottawa. Her time in the forces granted her the opportunity to compete nationally in her two favourite sports badminton and golf. After a career with the Armed Forces, Trudy went back to work at the family business ,Western Tire, before managing Tilden Rent a Car, where she worked until 1999. Afterwards she applied her meticulous accounting and book working skills at the dental practice of her brother, Dr. Brian.
Trudy is survived by her brothers Dr. Brian and Brent, her sister in law Bernice Preston, her nephew Brad (Shannon) Matchett, nieces Brett (Shawn) Rousselle and Bobbi (Chris) Gray, along with great nieces and nephews.
She will also be missed by special cousins Stephanie, Paula, and Danny Anderson and Aunts Ella Dunnett and Ruth Matchett.
Funeral services, officiated by Arch Deacon Reverend Richard Steeves and assisted by Rose Steeves, were held on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at Northumberland Funeral Home in Miramichi, New Brunswick. Congregational hymns supported by St Andrew’s Anglican Church Choir were ”It Is Well With My Soul”, “The Lord Is My Shepherd”, and “The Day Thou Gavest Lord Is Ended”. A Beautiful musical rendition of “The Lord’s Prayer” was offered by Susan Butler O.C. and the organist was Dawn Bell. Trudy’s niece Bobbi recited a touching poem. Following the service, a reception was held at the funeral home.
Trudy’s remains will be interred at the Miramichi Cemetery at a later date.
