HOWLAND, M. CHRISTINA
Christina Howland of Waasis, passed peacefully with family at her side at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Saturday, May 9, 2015 in her 96th year. Born on December 23, 1919 in Oromocto, NB she was the daughter of the late James and Annie Ward and the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Christina was active in all her family’s lives, knowing each grandchild, great grandchild and even great-great grandchild on a personal level. She was loved and will be missed by her family and many friends. Her genuine kindness was evident to all those who had the pleasure of meeting her.
Survived by her only son, Maurice (Melodia) Ward; five grandchildren Jackie (Byron) Hand, Paul (Anna) Ward, Sandra (Peter) Ward/Whitters, Jeannette (Brent) Ward/Rees, Roger (Julia) Ward; six great-grandchildren, Christina (Matthew) Bickell, Brandon and Katie Whitters, Caroline and Alexandra Ward, Jordyn Rees and a great-great-grandchild Elliana Bickell.
She was preceded in death by husband, Ernest Howland (1987).
Visitation will be held at the Oromocto Funeral Home on Monday, May 11, 2015 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A memorial mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church at 2:00 pm. Fr. Antonio Reyes as celebrant. Interment will take place immediately following the mass in the adjoining cemetery.
