Peacefully at his late residence, on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, of Alfred “Al” LeBlanc, of Brophy Avenue, Summerside, aged 88 years. He was a veteran of the Second World War, serving in Newfoundland with the RCAF during the war and various other bases during his 30 year career in Canada. Born in Douglastown, N.B., he was the son of the late William and Georgina LeBlanc. Survived by his wife, Belle (Estey) LeBlanc; children, Jeanne Heikamp (John Oliver), Dartmouth, N.S.; Rachelle (Ronald) Berneche, Ottawa, Ont.; Paulette (Ronald) Edwards, Ottawa, Ont.; Julie Anne (Blair) MacDonald, Cornwall, P.E.I.; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Sr. Mary Therese LeBlanc; sisters-in-law, Josephine LeBlanc and Aline LeBlanc. Predeceased by a sister, Edith; and brothers, Philias, Edward, Gerald and Robert. Resting at the Moase Funeral Home, Summerside, until Thursday, then to St. Paul’s Church, Summerside, for funeral mass at 10:30 a.m. Interment will later take place in St. Paul’s Cemetery, Summerside. Visiting hours Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Members of the Summerside Branch of the Royal Canadian Legion, will hold a Service of Remembrance at the funeral home, Wednesday at 6:45 p.m. Memorial donations to Summerside Meals on Wheels or the Hospice Palliative Care Association, Summerside, would be appreciated.
