It is with heavy heart's that we announce the sudden passing of Rita Elliott (formally Rita Northcott). Dearly loved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt and Friend. Rita passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, May 15th at the age of 82. Predeceased by her husband, Robert Northcott in 2002; her parents, Mary Jane and William Mercer; brother, Harrison Mercer; her sisters, Olga Morgan and Evelyn Noseworthy. Left to celebrate her life, with many loving memories, her devoted husband, Robert Elliott; daughters Karen Slade (Roy Carpenter), Brenda Kirk (Rob Lywood), Judy Northcott (Bill Moulton), and Rita Miller (Stan). Leaving to mourn with many cherished memories are her grandchildren, Stephanie Northcott, Brian and Curtis Slade, Brianna and Brian Kirk, Vanessa and Nathan Miller. As well left in mourning are her sisters; Shirley Collins (Bill), Margaret Baker (Boyd), Florence Long, Joan Pearce, and Sandra Comeau (Leo). Her extended family also include Debbie Robertson (John), Edgar Elliott (Susan) and Walter Elliott. Rita will be dearly missed by her many nieces and nephews. Specials thanks to her devoted caregiver and friend, Christine Savoury. Also, leaving to mourn are her many friends at Maplewood Apartments, where she has resided for the past 7 years. Rita was a devoted wife, loving Mother and Grandmother. She will be always remembered for her great sense of humor, love of music, kindness and compassion for animals, amazing cooking, warm smile and contagious laugh. We would like to take this time to thank the staff of 7 West at St. Clare's Hospital for the kindness and compassion shown to Rita and her family during this very difficult time. Rita will be resting at Carnell's Funeral Home, 329 Freshwater Road. Visitation to take place on Sunday, May 17 from 1:00pm to 9:00pm and Monday, May 18 from 10:00am to 9:00pm. Funeral to take place at Carnell Memorial Chapel on Tuesday May 19, at 1:00pm. Interment to follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
