Passed peacefully away at Health Sciences Center, St. John's on Sunday, May 17, 2015, Captain Wilfred Benjamin Savory, age 83 years. Leaving to mourn his daughters Diana (Christopher) Deacon, Sandra Savory, Rosemary (Craig) Norman and Lori (Scott Hancock) Savory, his cherished grandchildren Christopher Benjamin Deacon (David Cooke), Abigail Quigley and Sarah Norman, sisters Catherine, Daisy, Colleen, Vivian, Queen and Donna, brothers Stanley John, Charles and Vernon, sisters-in-law Elaine, Joyce, Katherine and Barbara and brothers-in-law Ray, Graham and Barry. We know he is now walking in paradise with his beloved wife, Bessie, who has been waiting for him for 12 years, his mother Vivian Savoury and step father Stan Savoury, father-in-law Gordon Reid and mother-in-law Ruth Reid, sister Dora, brother Frank, brothers-in-law Harry, Doug and Roy and sister-in-law Annie. Many thanks to the staff at Chancellor Park, who took such wonderful care of him in his last years. Resting at Warren's Funeral Home, Dildo, Newfoundland. Visitation on Wednesday May 20 from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral service to take place on Thursday, May 21 at 2:00pm from All Saints Anglican Church, Dildo. In lieu of flowers, donations in Wilfred's memory may be made to Easter Seals Newfoundland, Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Lung Association or to a charity of your choice. In his lifetime, he sailed many waters, always with charts and compass at the ready. His last voyage into unknown waters needs no chart, no compass. His faith and love will guide him to safe harbour.
