David John Butlin
BUTLIN, David John – 73, passed away suddenly at home in Bayhead near Tatamagouche on May 13, 2015. David was born May 2, 1942 in Brighton, England, the son of the late Charles Edward and Nancy Jennifer (Smith) Butlin. David moved to Canada in 1965, first to British Columbia and then to Tatamagouche where he was an organic based hog and dairy farmer and belonged to the Cream Producers Association. His entrepreneurial spirit and love of the ocean led him to own a boat building business (Bayhead Marine) and taught wind surfing and sailing to many children of the area. Ending his many life achievements was his success as a well-known and respected real estate agent with his own company (Selltech Coastal Realty) and later with HLM Realties. The North Shore and Tatamagouche was his home base for twenty-five years where his pride and involvement in the community were exhibited through service with the Chamber of Commerce and community events where he promoted the benefits and potential of rural communities. Surviving are, his wife, Susie (Hill) (McNutt) Butlin; his children, Nathan (Stacey), Pacifica, California, Anna Rachael (Michael), Dartmouth; Jared (Sara), Baltimore, Maryland; step-sons, Nathan, Ben, and Luke; 6 grandchildren; his brothers and sisters in England, Judith (Mike), Stephen (Angela), Mary, Alice (David), Sarah (Pete), Michael (Chrissie) and his brother in Australia, Phillip (Sara); as well as many other relatives in England. The family wishes to invite the public to join them for a time of remembering David from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Coulter’s Funeral Home, Tatamagouche. No public funeral service to be held. Family flowers only. Memorial donations to a charity of one’s choice would be appreciated.
