Murray Neil Morse 1930 – 2015
Morse, Murray Neil – 84, Valley, NS, passed away on Friday, May 15, 2015 at the Colchester East Hants Heath Centre, Truro.
Born in Montréal, Québec, he was the son of the late Stuart and Muriel (Cann) Morse. Murray spent his formative years in Nova Scotia. He attended Lawrencetown Consolidated School and then Acadia University, from which he was granted the degree of Bachelor of Arts in 1952. He was employed with Colgate-Palmolive Limited as sales representative for the islands of Cape Breton and Newfoundland for two years. He joined the RCAF in 1954 and retired from the service in 1975 having served as a supply and logistics officer, including a 2 1/2 year posting to HMCS Bonaventure, Canada's last aircraft carrier. He was the first Air Force officer to serve at sea as a member of a ship's company. He concluded his period of service at Canadian Forces Headquarters in Ottawa. Murray enjoyed fly fishing and practiced this art in many of Nova Scotia’s salmon rivers. Murray wrote several novels including a published work entitled "The Wing and the Arrow". Murray is survived by four sons, Neil, Raymond, Christopher, Timothy and daughter, Julia. Murray has eight grandchildren, Sarah and Trevor; David, Michael and Samuel; Matthew and Neil; and Atticus. He was predeceased by his ex-wife, Cedella (Tulk), brother, Stuart and sister, Merida. Interment and a memorial service will be held at a future date. Memorial donations may be made to the RCAF Association, Ottawa, Ontario. Arrangements are under the direction of Colchester Community Funeral Home, Truro.
