It is with sad hearts the family of Paul Joseph King announce his passing at the Dr. Everett Chalmers Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 24, 2015 following a courageous battle with cancer. As in life, Paul demonstrated courage and resolve in his final hours. Born in Fredericton on March 3, 1950, he was a son of Greta M. (King) King and the late Arnold J. King.
Paul attended Life Tabernacle on the Hanwell Road, Fredericton. Paul’s working career included Woods worker and Construction and for 37 years, Paul was employed as a Licensed Mason at U.N.B. Fredericton. Always an avid outdoorsman, Paul enjoyed spending time at his camp in Boiestown, NB especially when he was surrounded by his family and friends. He loved to fish and hunt, a passion he passed on to his sons. His presence will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Paul was an avid fan of the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The love of his life and his wife of 42 years, Valerie A. (Ward) King will miss him dearly as well as his two sons, Joey (Sarah) and Jason (Kayla) both of Mazerolle Settlement. Paul was continually delighted by his five grandchildren, Rebecca, Olivia, Scott, Tayah and Jaxon. Paul also had five very special chosen grandchildren who held a special place in his heart, Megan Mazerolle, Kierra and Abbey Walsh, Liam and Chloe Palk. Paul is also survived by his mother Greta King of Mazerolle Settlement; brothers, Andrew, Gerald (Natalie) both of Fredericton, Eugene (Bonnie) of Mazerolle Settlement, David (Kerri) and Brian both of Fredericton; sisters, Dale Duncan (Ian) of Harvey, Jo-Anne Thomas of Fredericton, Donna McKeen (John), Judy King and Christine King all of Mazerolle Settlement, NB as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
There will be no public visitation by family request. A service celebrating the life of Paul King will be held at Life Tabernacle, 1644 Hanwell Road, Fredericton on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at 2:00 PM with Pastor Terry Messer officiating. Private interment will be held at a later date.
For those who wish to make a contribution to a charity, in memory of Paul, Life Tabernacle or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
