Peter Geneau
GENEAU, PETER JOSEPH
With great sadness, the family of Peter Geneau announces his peaceful passing on May 19, 2015 at Nanaimo Regional General Hospital, in Nanaimo, British Columbia.
He was the youngest and last surviving child of Melas and Eugenie (nee Robichaud) Geneau. His siblings were Earl, Edmund, Albert, Allison, Edward, Mellet, Archie, Mary, Melitta, Nellie, Elsie, and Irene
Peter is survived by his loving wife, Aline Marie (née Arsenault), and sons Paul (Cathy), Brian, and Daniel (Emma), grandchildren Michelle, Danielle, Andre, Sevanna, Nathaniel, and Meghan, and great-grandchildren Abby, Marli, Anna, Allie, and Jonah, as well as many dear nieces and nephews, and brothers/sisters-in-law.
Peter was born in Minto, New Brunswick on April 12, 1926, grew up there, and no matter how far away he was living, always considered it home. He served in the Canadian Army at the end of World War II, and after a few years as a civilian he enrolled in the Royal Canadian Air Force, with a career based in: Lachine, Quebec; Shearwater, Nova Scotia; Marville, France; and Trenton, Ontario. On retirement Peter moved the family “back home” to Fredericton. For the past two years Peter and Aline have resided at Nanaimo Seniors Village, close to son Paul and his family.
Peter and Aline were married in Minto on June 30, 1952. Throughout their long marriage, they were an example of love and dedication, and demonstrated a strong commitment to family. Their home was open to many visitors and long term guests, and was filled with music and laughter.
Peter was a devout Catholic, and took comfort and strength in his prayers to St. Anne de Beaupre, and to the Blessed Virgin Mary. He was a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus in Minto, to which memorial donations would be welcome. Alternatively, donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation in his remembrance.
The family is planning a memorial service and reception at the Holy Rosary Catholic Church of Minto 11:00AM Tuesday, July 14, 2015. www.hoggfunerals.ca
