Phillips, Shirley Corrine (Brown), age 72, of Windsor, passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2015, at the Hants Community Hospital, Windsor, with her family by her side. Born on January 21, 1943, in Windsor, she was the daughter of the late Owen Harry and Gloria Mae (Davis) Brown. Shirley was the oldest of a large family and at the age of 16, started working at the Payzant Memorial Hospital in 1959. When the new Hants Community Hospital opened, she then worked for most of her years as a Nurses Aid, retiring in 2003. She loved country music, Saturday night dances, and also enjoyed the Jamboree’s at Nine Nile River. Shirley is survived by her children, Kevin, Three Mile Plains; Michael (Deanna) Phillips, Windsor; Karen (Mark) McCarthy, Three Mile Plains; 8 grandchildren; sisters, Helen (Cody) Bartlett; Bonnie (Mike) Mullen; Barbara (Clem) Goodine; Crystal (Darrin) Verge; half-sister, Sheila (Allen) Jamieson; brothers, Hugh; Michael (Angie); Bert (Julia); several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Graham Bruce Phillips (2013); brothers, Kenneth, Paul, and a brother in infancy. In keeping with Shirley’s wishes, there will be no visitation. A private family graveside service for both Shirley and Graham, will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2015, at the Ste. Croix Cemetery, St. Croix, with Rev. Bill Gibson officiating. A public reception will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. at the Brooklyn Civic Centre, 995 Highway 215, Brooklyn. ‘All Welcome’.
