It is with heartfelt sadness that we announce the passing of our dear mother, Elizabeth Jean Bond (White) who passed away peacefully at home on Thursday, May 28th surrounded by her loving family.
She was born on January 9, 1927 in Glace Bay, the eldest daughter of the late Abe and Jessie White (Curtis).
Jean lived a very humble and quiet life. She always looked after her family and taught them manners and respect. As a teenager, Jean worked in a factory in Brampton Ontario making airplane parts and returned home near the end of the War. Then she worked as a waitress at the New Era Cafe prior to raising her family. She was raised in a musical family and was a member of the choir at Epworth United Church. She always enjoyed walking and meeting her friends at Tim Horton’s. Over
the years she looked forward to the frequent visits from her brothers and sisters.
Jean is survived by her five daughters: Doris (Henry Mills deceased), Sheila (Eddy Mills-deceased), Diane (Laurie Flanders). Barbara (Keith McLean), Carol (Bill Power) and two sons Jerry and Sheldon and was predeceased by her husband Allister and her infant son Bruce and granddaughter Allison Lynn McLean
Jean is survived by her siblings: sisters: Elsie and Shirley; brothers: Gordon, Allister, and Abe and was predeceased by sisters: Mae, Jessie, and Lavinia and brothers George and Aubrey.
Jean loved her grandchildren: Henry & Cecil Mills, Lori, Dale & Jason Flanders, Troy Bond (whom she raised as her own), & Lindsay McLean. Great grandchildren: Amber and Payton Mills, Madison and Grayson Bond, Hayden Midford, KennaJames and Jase Flanders.
Visitation for the late Jean Bond will be held on Monday June 1, 2015, 2-4 & 7-9pm in Patten Funeral Home 71 Union st Glace Bay. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday June 2 at 2pm in Patten Funeral Home Chapel, interment to follow in Greenwood cemetery.
Special thanks to Dr. Cadegan and staff, Dr. Thana and the Renal Dialysis Unit, Palliative Care, VON and the Red Cross and the New Waterford Homecare Workers for their care and compassion.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Warden United Church or a charity of one's choice.
