The untimely death of Carl Roderick "Rod" Wilson, 43, of Amherst, occurred at the Halifax Infirmary on Tuesday, June 2, 2015. Born in Sackville, NB, Rod was a son of the late James "Bubby" and Carolyn (Linkletter) Wilson.
For five years, Rod had fought a courageous battle with Lymphoma. His motivation was always his daughter, Maci. He was a big supporter and participant in the Light The Night Walk to raise awareness of the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada.
Rod was a loving husband and father. He enjoyed spending time with his precious daughter and fishing buddy, Maci. His greatest wish was to spend time with Maci in Florida; a dream he was able to fulfill while they enjoyed their birthdays together in Disney this past April.
Rod was passionate for poker, his motorcycle, and golf. He was known as the go-to guy for anything to do with electronics. He had a great love for his animals. Very social, Rod was well known as a comic and tease and will never be forgotten by his many friends and family.
He will be deeply missed by his wife of fifteen years, Robyn (Young); his daughter, Maci; two brothers, Jim (Paula) and Michael; sister, Shelley (Leon) Brown; a niece, Jessica and nephew, Michael; mother and father-in-law, Gerard and Gail Young; brothers-in-law, Blain (Deb) Young and Brent (Laurie) Young; nephews Tanner and Carter; as well as Rod's very close aunts, uncles and cousins.
Rod was predeceased by his parents.
Arrangements are under the care and guidance of Furlong~Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church Street, Amherst, NS (902-667-8777). Honouring Rod's request there is to be no formal funeral service. Friends and family are invited to a time of visitation from the funeral home on Friday, June 5, 2015 from 2-4 and 6-9 pm. A time of remembrance will be held at the funeral home on Friday, commencing at 7:30 pm.
Donations in memory of Rod may be made to the Light The Night Walk or a charity of the donor's choice.
