Sidney Bennett Chapman of Tidnish Bridge, NS, passed away in Amherst after a lengthy illness on May 29,2015.
Born in Springhill, Dec.9,1940, he was the son of the late Paul and Francis (Merritt) Chapman. Following the separation of his parents, Sidney and his brother Garnet were raised by the late Earl and Marjorie (Chapman) Austin in Rodney, NS.
After a long career in the Canadian Army that included UN peacekeeping missions to Cyprus, Lebanon, and Egypt, Sidney retired and built a home for himself along the banks of the Tidnish River. An animal lover and an avid gardener, Sidney was thankful for the help provided by friends and family during his illness.
Sidney is survived by his brother Garnet (Nancy), and nephews Earl (Sheila) and Stephen (Melanie), all of Ottawa ON, and sister Shelly of Moncton, NB.
Cremation has taken place and at Sidney's request there will be no service.
Arrangements are under the direction of Furlong-Jones Funeral Home, 70 Church St., Amherst, N.S.
