Passed in: New Waterford
Passed on: June 8th, 2015

It is with painful hearts that we, the family of the late Elizabeth MacLeod, 77, announce her passing on June 8, 2015 at home with her loving family.
Born in Dominion, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (MacLeod) and Lauchie Currie. She came to New Waterford at a young age and moved with her husband to Toronto where they lived for eight years. They moved back to New Waterford in 1968 where they remained to raise their family and were dedicated foster parents to many over the years.
Lizzy is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Raymond 'Babe' MacLeod; her children Myrna (John) Tonary, Raymond (Sharon) MacLeod and Ernie Deveaux; her cherished grandchildren, Jon (Crissy), Sara (Adam), Elyse, Nikki, Steven, Riley, Jennifer, Brett, Kyle, Colin, Robyn and Chelsey; great-grandchildren, Dalys, Kooper, Harrison, and Loki, who were her sunshine; as well as many nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law, Rita Currie, Christina MacKenzie and Margaret MacLeod.
She is also survived by a very special niece, Rosemary Fraser, whom she felt was more like a sister to her. Her greatest joy in life was her family for she felt she was truly blessed.
Liz was the last remaining member of her immediate family.
Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret, Chris, Catherine (Fuzzy), Mary and Josephine (Joey); brothers, Tommy, Johnnie and Michael.
We will be forever grateful for the support of the VON (Continuing Care) and palliative care who were our angels in our time of need.
Visitation for Elizabeth will be held Thursday, June 11th from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at V.J. McGillivray Funeral Home, 380 Smith St., New Waterford. A funeral mass of celebration will take place Friday, June 12th at 10 a.m. in the Parish Church of St. Leonard, Mount Carmel Avenue, with Father Joe Gillis officiating. Burial will be in St. Agnes Cemetery with a luncheon to follow at St. Leonard's Parish Hall, Convent Street, New Waterford.
Donations may be made to the Hospice/Palliative Care Society of Cape Breton.
Online expressions of sympathy may be sent to the family at: www.vjmcgillivray.ca.
