Ruth Hill
It is again with deep sadness we announce the passing of our wife, mother and grandmother Ruth Hill at the age of 64. Ruth passed away at home on May 27, 2015 surrounded by her loving family and dearest friend Faye Hill. Ruth is survived by her loving husband Dennis of 32 years, son Sean (Laurie) Hill and grandson Damien of Cochrane, AB; daughters Tricia Hill of Saskatoon, SK, Deanna Hill of Edmonton, grandchildren Mason and Tanner of Calgary, AB; cousin John Wilson of Kingston, ON; mother-in-law Patricia Hill of Saskatoon, SK; brother-in-law Brian (Sharon) Hill of Saskatoon, SK; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Lorne and Margaret Wilson. Ruth was born in Saskatoon on May 21, 1951. She attended Churchill School for elementary and her high school years at Aden Bowman Collegiate and Nutana Collegiate. After high school, Ruth worked for various radio stations in Minot and western Canada. After returning to Saskatoon in 1974, Ruth had a son Sean, her pride and joy. She worked at McKercher Law office as a secretary and at Walter Murray Collegiate in the attendance office. In 1982, Ruth met Dennis and his two children Tricia and Deanna. She married the love of her life on July 9, 1983, and they together became a family of five. In 1985, Ruth and Dennis moved to an acreage outside of Prince Albert, SK. The acreage was a place Ruth treasured as her true passion was her yard, flowers and garden. Canning tomatoes and making relish was also a past time she enjoyed. Ruth and Dennis loved fishing and camping together. She treasured every minute spent with her dogs that were her constant companions. Before retiring, Ruth worked at Safeway and Walmart and looked after the books for Dennis's company. In 2011, Ruth and Dennis started to spend their winters at Araby Acres in Yuma, Arizona. This was Ruth's paradise. She loved sitting in the sun and visiting with the many friends she had there. They made this place their second home. In February 2015 while in Yuma Ruth started to experience some back pain and decided to return home. It was then discovered that Ruth had stage 4 colon cancer. A dear friend of Ruth's, Linda Reid and her quilting friends from Yuma, made Ruth a quilt which she took so much comfort in during her struggle with cancer. Memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (1910 McIntyre St, Regina, SK S4P 2R3). A Celebration of Ruth's Life will be held from 2:00-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 20th at the Nordale Community Club (1306 - 6th Ave NW, Prince Albert, SK). An interment will be held at a later date. Arrangements in care of John Schachtel - MOURNING GLORY FUNERAL SERVICES (306-978-5200) www.mourningglory.ca
